The Mission of New Zemaitis

After 40 years of handcrafting fine guitars and having virtually created the 'boutique guitar' Tony Zemaitis retired in 2000.

Around this time we began discussions with Tony about the best way to pass on his craft to the next generation, to continue the Zemaitis name and to carry on the tradition of quality and craftsmanship that had earned him his reputation as a master guitar maker.

Sadly, Tony Zemaitis passed away before any arrangement could be reached. Tony's wife and son, Ann and Tony Junior, both felt it was important that the tradition of Zemaitis guitars continue, and so with their support, we have been able to make the rebirth of Zemaitis guitars a reality.

We are honored to bear the Zemaitis torch and to pass along the craft and spirit of Tony Zemaitis to future generations. Our master craftsmen and luthiers have carefully studied Tony's original drawings, specifications and guitars in order to faithfully reproduce Zemaitis instruments of the same superior quality as those crafted by the man himself.

We have even enlisted the services of Danny O'Brien, the master engraver of the original Zemaitis guitars. Danny's tremendous skills and artistry help contribute authenticity and craftsmanship to this endeavor. Now, after several years of painstaking research and organization, we feel that the time is right for the rebirth of Zemaitis guitars.
